I love heist movies.
A heist is all about taking something that seems impossible to liberate. Something of great value, something precious.
like for exmple-
YOU
A good heist involves a plan and a crew, it anticipates changes and challenges.
Something like a coach
A little bit like a spiritual director
Not a therapist
Sort of like a guide- a companion on your journey.
A resource-
a collaborator-
I’ll be your girl on the inside
For years I was a priest, and most of all I was committed to liberation- To see a precious human soul held captive to fear and shame breaks my heart. I want you free.
Liberation is contagious- free people free people-
One of the big heist movie tropes starts with someone who has just gotten out of jail putting together a big crazy plan. After ten years in the Episcopal church I have been kicked out because the shape of my family is incompatible with the Episcopal church’s teaching on marriage.
As a queer, kinky, polyamorous, ex-priest I've been asking myself- What's next? And How?
I have been engaging the ways in which my vocational choices have mirrored my childhood wounds. I have been mapping out the countless ways my soul, my self worth, my tender heart have been held captive. It’s not just one thing. It’s never just one thing.
Even though my brutal removal from the church has been challenging (understatement) to my faith, I still believe some things.
And I have realized that out of all the things I miss, one of the big ones is sitting with people. Listening, helping, dreaming and scheming. If that's something you need- please get in touch.
